 Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is an easy and efective landscape plant that gives a great seasonal display (in autumn as its name suggests). Its blooms start of as a creamy pink and become a rich rose colour and then end up as a rusty red/copper as the flowers finish.

The plant has fleshy, semi succulent leaves and prefers full sun. It doesn’t require much water and is drought and cold tolerant. The foliage will die back in winter and reshoot in spring.

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is great in the foreground of a garden bed, growing to 60cm wide and high, or in rockeries. Combine it with plants that persist through winter so that patch of garden maintains its interest.

Autumn Joy is a garden variety of species that originate in China and Eurasia.

Hi Jenny

Autumn Joy is certainly readily available at the wholesale nurseries. I suspect that because winter is a bit of a down time for this species, the retailers don’t stock it so much at this time. Now that spring is here though, it should start appearing. At the very least you can ask your local nursery to get it in for you. Shouldn’t be a problem for them.

Cheers
Gary
